Team News:
Team Scoring
At NYRRC races, we (NYRRC) accept runners who belong to any and
all teams. Teams are not required to be registered with USATF or with
us in advance. All teams will be scored provided they have enough
runners to be scored as a team. Teams are comprised of five men or
three women. If your team has more than five men or three women, we
will score the top five men or three women. Team scoring is determined
by the total of the finishing positions of the scoring members. The team
with the lowest total points is the team winner. Ties between two or more
teams are resolved by determining which team's last scoring member
finished nearest to first place.
Team Declaration
To declare your team, put your team name on your race application. Even
if you indicated your team with your NYRRC Membership information, you
still need to declare your team on your application. If you are unsure whether
you declared your team on your application, check the printed tag on your
race number when you pick it up. Your team code should appear below
your name. Changes and edits can be made at registration anytime prior
to the start of the race. Changes to your team affiliation cannot be made
AFTER the race has started. If you are currently a member of one team
and are changing to another team, contact us (NYRRC) to let us know that
a change is taking place. USATF rules state that when changing teams,
you must run as unattached for 90 days before you can compete for a
new team. If you compete for a new team prior to this 90 day period,
you run the risk of disqualifying your new team.
Club Championships
Over the course of the year, certain races are designated as Club
Championship points races. At these events, points are awarded to
teams in three divisions: Open, Masters (age 40+) and Veterans (age 50+).
For Open Men, a team consists of five runners. For all other divisions, a
team consists of three runners. In each division, points are awarded to
the top ten teams: 1st-15, 2nd-12, 3rd-10, 4th-8, 5th-6, 6th-5, 7th-4,
8th-3, 9th-2, 10th-1. In addition, teams that do not place in the top ten but
finish a team in their division will be awarded 1 point. For the Club
Championship race, there are double points. For more information on the
Club Championship series, the 2001 schedule and the current standings,
check our (NYRRC) Club Championships page.
Club Council
To enhance communications between the NYRRC and local teams, we
have Club Council. Representatives from teams meet every other month
with NYRRC Board Members Andy Kimerling and Gary Meltzer. Information
about upcoming events and feedback from teams are discussed. For
more information, check the Club Council section at the bottom of the
Club Championship page on the NYRRC Web site.
At the NYC Marathon, we (NYRRC) only accept teams from U.S. applicants
